The BD FACS Lyse Wash Assistant (LWA), with its patented cell wash technology, automates sample preparation for flow cytometry applications. It lyses, mixes, washes, and fixes samples with minimal labor.
Automating incubation and washing, the LWA batch processes up to 40 patient samples per run to reduce hands-on time and operatorinduced variability in laboratory data. Samples can be transferred to a BD FACSCanto or BD FACSCalibur flow cytometer for analysis using the LWA carousel.
Features
- Lyses, mixes, washes, and fixes to streamline workflow.
- Processes up to 40 samples.
- Easy-to-use, touch-screen interface.
- Compatible with BD FACSCanto, BD FACSCalibur, and BD FACS Sample Preparation Assistant to further enhance workflow.
The LWA system processes up to 40 samples at a time. The LWA carousel can be transferred directly to a BD FACSCanto or BD FACSCalibur flow cytometer or to a BD FACS Sample Preparation Assistant. Automating sample preparation by batch processing up to 40 patient samples per run allows the technician to focus on other laboratory tasks.
Patented cell washer technology eliminates the need to transfer samples to a centrifuge. Red blood cells, platelets, unbound antibody, and residual proteins are removed, while preserving white cells and delivering clean sample recovery.
The programmable steps of sample preparation can be run in any order and can also be repeated. The new LWA provides five preprogrammed protocols and allows users to create as many as ten custom protocols to meet laboratory needs. For consistent sample preparation, protocols can be quickly and easily transferred between instruments using a USB device.
The LWA delivers options to customize a range of lyse and fixative dispense volumes. Users can select mixing frequency and length, incubation times, wash precipitation, and G force settings. With the larger tank option, labs can further increase productivity by running four full loader racks (160 samples) without having to change fluids. This automation not only saves valuable time compared to standard methods, but minimizes exposure to potentially biohazardous material.
