Microm HM 550

This used HM 550 OPD cryotome is in great cosmetic and functional condition. This instrument features a temperature controlled specimen head, a deep-freeze Peltier, and Sanosil disinfection. The HM 550 was tested and had select service performed by New Life Scientific technicians. The refrigerant system was placed under deep vacuum to clean the lines and the refrigerant compressor was replaced. The cryostat was tested to the manufacturer's temperature specification and chilled within hours; for listing purposes, the cryostats are cooled, but, often, the instrument does not cool to specification within that time period. This product features the Sanosil disinfection option which offers cold disinfection of the chamber using non-toxic a hydrogen peroxide / silver antimicrobial agent within three minutes. This feature was tested by successfully nebulizing a water sample throughout the system. Paraffin tissue samples can be quickly chilled by one of the twelve freezing stations, four of which offer a deep-freeze function at -60 degrees Celsius; the Peltier element can warm or cool samples with the touch of a button.
