National Instruments PXIe-6545 PXI Digital Waveform Instrument
The 200 MHz, 32-channel PXIe-6545 (Part Numbers: 780993-01, 780993-02, and 780993-03) is a high-speed digital waveform generator and analyzer. The NI PXIe-6545 enables the user to synchronize with other analog or digital instruments by clocking data using an external clock through the front panel SMA connector (CLK IN) or the PXI Express backplane reference clock (PXI_CLK100). The device has 32 bidirectional digital I/O channels and consumes a maximum power of 33.5 W.
The device operates using the NI-HSDIO driver software and is compatible with application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI. Additional software includes the NI Script Editor, which facilitates waveform generation operations, and the NI Digital Waveform Editor (NI DWE), which helps in creating, importing, and editing digital test vectors. The device can be configured using NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
The PXIe-6545 module features advanced architecture, providing higher clock rates of up to 200 MHz, improved signal integrity, and configurable voltage levels from 1.2V to 3.3V for impedance matching. It can interface with high-speed digital components that require precise setup and hold times. At the maximum clock rate, signal quality is crucial for maintaining data integrity. With the x4 PXI Express architecture, the user can stream at 660 MB/s (input) and 400 MB/s (output) to and from a host PC or a high-speed storage solution, such as the NI HDD-8264 3 TB RAID array, or use the onboard memory (up to 64 Mbits per channel, totaling 256 MB for the device) for waveform storage.
Additionally, the PXIe-6545 supports applications such as testing LCD screens, TV components, high-definition signals (up to 1080p at 60 Hz), RF baseband devices, and high-fidelity audio. It allows for the generation and acquisition of terabyte-scale digital waveforms, making it ideal for applications in RF and baseband recording/playback, signal intelligence, and communication system design, validation, and verification. The device weighs 519 g and has dimensions of 21.6 × 2.0 × 13.0 cm.
