The PITSCO Robotics Kit (Part Number 783892-01) is an advanced educational robotics system that provides a means for students to bridge the gap between the theoretical concepts of engineering and automation applications in the real world. It has been designed to accommodate smoothly with the NI myRIO Student Embedded Device and the NI Engineering Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS). There is also included a 10-cell NiMH battery pack, a charger and a complete and detailed build guide, which guides the user through the construction of various projects such as rovers, articulated arms, and balance robots.
In educational environments, the PITSCO Robotics Kit is used to teach robot design, robotics, automation, control theory, and embedded systems. The students can affix NI myRIO or NI ELVIS modules to the robot frame to connect any of the available motors and sensors and can use LabVIEW for the development of control logic (for example Algorithms, Control Logic), and local testing and debugging of the units.
