The HP 8756A scalar network analyzer is a microprocessor based receiver. It is capable of making scalar reflection and transmission measurements at RF and microwave frequencies. Easily measure insertion loss and gain, return loss, and absolute power. The 8756A is completely programmable over the Hewlett-Packard Interface Bus (HP-IB), and can control a plotter (such as the 7470A or 9872C) or sweep oscillator (such as the 8350B or 8340A) through the 8756 system interface. The 8756A processes and displays the demodulated 27.8 kHz signals from the 11664 detectors and the 85020 /1 bridges.

The 8756A features two independent display channels with separate controls. Complete measurements can be performed using only five control keys for each channel. Use the Autoscale key to let the 8756A choose the optimum scale and reference level to display measurements. Use the display cursor to read out magnitude and frequency at each data point.
