National Instruments cFP-CB-2 Compact FieldPoint General-Purpose Connector Block
The NI cFP-CB-2 (Part Number: 780017-02) is meant for general-purpose and hazardous-voltage operation with any type of Compact FieldPoint I/O module and can be mounted on a CFP-BP-x or cFP-180x Compact FieldPoint Backplane. A single connector block is necessary for every Compact FieldPoint I/O module. The National Instruments cFP-CB-2 Compact FieldPoint General-Purpose Connector Block is the most safe, small-sized connectivity option for a variety of applications. Although the cFP-CB-2 can be used with any Compact FieldPoint I/O module, it is especially well-suited for modules with over eight channels.
This Integrated Connector Block has a removable connector with 36 spring terminals. The removable connector enables effortless front-panel access to the terminals for wiring. The spring terminals make wiring an easy process because it is not necessary to link more than a single wire to a terminal. If the user’s application is prone to hazardous voltage and/or high vibration, then they can install the NI-9940 Backshell (Part Number: 779567-01) on the spring-terminal connector. The NI cFP-CB-2 additionally has a thermistor for cold-junction compensation when utilized with thermocouples. This Connector Block can be operated in the –40 to 70 °C temperature range. The device has a cold-junction accuracy of 0.15 °C typical and 0.3 °C maximum.
When wiring to the Compact FieldPoint Connector Block, the user should ensure that they install the correct external fuses on every terminal. This aids with protecting the FieldPoint system and linked instruments. To link wires to the detachable spring-terminal connector on the cFP-CB-2, a flathead screwdriver with a blade less than 0.09 x 0.04 inches is required. The steps for this process can be found in the operating manual.
The integrated connector block weighs 4.8 oz. It has a terminal wiring of 18–22 AWG copper conductor with 7 mm (0.28 in.) of insulation. The device has a storage temperature range of –55 to 85 °C, a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%, a random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively–all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz. The block is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
