National Instruments GPIB-SCSI-A GPIB SCSI Controller
The GPIB-SCSI-A (Part Numbers: 776569-01, 776569-02, 776569-03, 776569-04, 776569-05, 776569-06) is a GPIB SCSI Controller. The controller has been developed by National Instruments. The NI GPIB-SCSI-A can communicate with and control up to 14 GPIB instruments. In addition, seven SCSI devices can be controlled through a computer with a GPIB port. This GPIB SCSI Controller offers two modes of control: SCSI(S) and GPIB(G). If SCSI(S) mode is implemented, it enables a user to convert a personal computer with an SCSI port to a GPIB controller. If GPIB(G) mode is implemented, the NI GPIB-SCSI-A interface enables the user to include an SCSI device into the GPIB system.
This GPIB SCSI Controller has asynchronous data transfer characteristics available at the SCSI port. The GPIB-SCSI-A can implement the full functions of IEEE-488.2 to act as either a talker, listener, or controller on the GPIB port. The addresses for the SCSI on the NI GPIB-SCSI-A interface are software selectable. The maximum transfer rates for both SCSI and GPIB ports depend on the application associated with the memory read/write commands. The maximum transfer rate for SCSI/GPIB read into buffer memory is 1.0 Mbytes/s. The transfer rate for SCSI reads and GPIB reads from buffer memory is 800 kbytes/s. The straight-through transfers (no buffering) rate for SCSI reads/GPIB writes is 600 kbytes/s.
The interface GPIB-SCSI-A is available in a wide range of input voltage options (120-240 VAC). The GPIB-SCSI-A also offers an input RAM buffer of 256 kbytes/s. The maximum current requirement of the interface is 90 mA at 120 VAC. The GPIB-SCSI-A interface comes with a standard 24 pin IEEE-488 connector for the GPIB port, while two 50-pin SCSI shielded I/O connectors are available for the SCSI port.
