  • Using the Used-Line Spiderbot to Upload your Listings to Used-Line
  • The Used-Line Spiderbot is the system that automatically visits dealer websites and obtains inventory information. This system lists dealer inventories with no effort from the dealer. The robot than determines the correct equipment category and inserts the listings into the Used-Line database responsible for listings on the website.

    To list your inventory via the Used-Line Spiderbot, please contact your Used-Line representative. If you do not yet have an account with Used-Line, contact us or email sales1@used-line.com

  • What else do you need to know about the Used-Line Spiderbot?
  • Where to find your listings that have been uploaded onto Used-Line:

    1. Click My UL, which can be found in the top menu of any page on Used-Line, near the right-hand side. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so.
    2. Choose My Ads from the My Used-Line menu on the left side of the page.
    3. Select the My Auto-Ads tab to view all your listings that have been uploaded by the Spiderbot.

  • Frequency of updates

    The Spiderbot updates the Used-Line database once every 72 hours. You can request to increase the frequency to as often as every 24 hours, by contacting your Used-Line representative.

  • In-Stock Icon

    You can attract more attention to a listing that has been uploaded to Used-Line by adding an in-stock Icon to any of your ads for equipment that is currently in your stock. The In-Stock Icon is a green icon that appears next to your listing, assuring potential buyers that they will not have to wait for this equipment.

    To add an In-Stock Icon to any of your automatically uploaded listings, purchase the low-cost In-Stock Icon Add-On with your Used-Line account. You can purchase any of our special Add-Ons from our Sell page, or by contacting your Used-Line rep.

    After purchasing the In-Stock Icon Add-on, your In-Stock Icons will appear as follows when your ads are automatically uploaded to Used-Line via the Spiderbot:
    1. If any of your automatically listed equipment is marked as "in stock" on your website, then these items will be labeled as in-stock on Used-Line – with the Used-Line In-Stock Icon.
    2. Or
    3. If none of your automatically listed equipment is marked as "in stock" on your website, then all of your ads will be labeled as in-stock on Used-Line – with the Used-Line In-Stock Icon.

  • Featured Items

    You can "feature" any of your listings that have been uploaded automatically onto Used-Line via our robot. Featuring a listing will bring it to the top of search results for this equipment.

    1. Click My UL, which can be found in the top menu of any page on Used-Line, near the right-hand side. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so.
    2. Choose My Ads from the My Used-Line menu on the left side of the page.
    3. Select the My Auto-Ads tab to view all your listings that have been uploaded by the Spiderbot.
    4. Choose the listing that you want to feature, then click Make Featured Item. This moves the listing to the My Featured Items tab.
    5. Select the My Featured Items tab, then click Edit to make any changes to your ad, making sure to include an image of your equipment.
      You can unfeature, delete, or restore the listing at any time.

    Note: You can also feature ads by posting them manually. See Entering Your Ads Manually below.

  • Premium Items

    You can bring potential buyers to your website – directly to the page showing the equipment in your listings on Used-Line. Premium items are shown with a thumbnail image of the page on your website. Please contact your Used-Line representative or email sales1@used-line.com to include this add-on in your Used-Line account.

  • Submitting a Spreadsheet with your Listings
  • Used-Line can place your listings on the site either by spidering your existing site, or by entering your listings that you upload to Used-Line. You can prepare your own spreadsheet with your listings.

    As with listings that have been uploaded via the Used-Line Spiderbot, you can apply special Used-Line add-ons to items in your spreadsheet.

  • What else do you need to know about uploading your listings on a spreadsheet?
  • Where to find your listings on Used-Line:

    1. Click My UL, which can be found in the top menu of any page on Used-Line, near the right-hand side. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so.

  • In-Stock Icon

    You can attract more attention to a listing that has been uploaded to Used-Line by adding an In-stock Icon to any of your ads for equipment that is currently in your stock.     To add In-Stock icons to your spreadsheet listings:
    1. Purchase the low-cost In-Stock Icon Add-On with your Used-Line account. You can purchase any of our special Add-Ons from our Sell page, or by contacting your Used-Line rep.
    2. Add an In Stock column to your spreadsheet. To choose which items in your spreadsheet should be marked as in stock:
      • Type the words, "in stock" in the In Stock column of your spreadsheet in each row that has an item that you want to mark as in stock.
      • OR
      • Type the number, "1" in the In Stock column of your spreadsheet in each row that has an item that you want to mark as in stock.

  • Featured Items

    You can feature any of your equipment that has been uploaded to Used-Line with your spreadsheet. Featuring a listing will bring it to the top of search results for this equipment.
    1. Click My UL, which can be found in the top menu of any page on Used-Line, near the right-hand side. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so.
    2. Choose My Ads from the My Used-Line menu on the left side of the page.
    3. Select the My Auto-Ads tab to view all your listings that you uploaded on a spreadsheet.
    4. Choose the listing that you want to feature, then click Make Featured Item. This moves the listing to the My Featured Items tab.
    5. Select the My Featured Items tab, then click Edit to make any changes to your ad, making sure to include an image of your equipment.
      You can unfeature, delete, or restore the listing at any time.

  • Premium Items

  • Entering Your Ads Manually
  • If you are not using the Used-Line Spiderbot for uploading your listings (for example, if you do not have a website) or you would prefer not to prepare a spreadsheet, you can list your ads manually. You have full editing control over manually listed ads, and these ads are treated as Featured Items, which are special ads that go to the top of search results for this equipment. (Note that you can Feature automatically uploaded equipment as well if you wish.)

    To enter your ads manually:
    1. At the top of any page on Used-Line, click My UL. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so. Your account information is shown with the My Used-Line menu on the left side of the page.
    2. From the My Used-Line menu, choose Place new Ads. An advertising form opens with fields for entering all the information and text you wish to include in your ad.
    3. Be sure to add a picture to your ad to make your ad stand out. You can add up to five images when entering your ads manually.
    4. Proceed according to the instructions on the form.
    5. If you with to upload another manual ad, click Place more ads.
    6. Click Submit.

  • Now That You’ve Posted Your Listings, Let’s See How They Are Doing
  • Used-Line.com has designed a set of smart statistical tools to help you monitor and improve your posting performance, continuously and effectively. Entering your own personalized statistics page you will be able to:

    • Instantly view the effectiveness of your listings in general.
    • Drill down to the specific statistics of each individual ad.

    To view your statistics on Used-Line:
    1. At the top of any page on Used-Line, click My UL. You will be prompted to log in to Used-Line if you have not already done so. Your account information is shown with the My Used-Line menu on the left side of the page.

    3. To view overall monthly statistics of all your listings, click Statistics. The following four graphs open:
      • RFQs received: indicating how many Used-Line buyers sent you a Request for Quote (RFQ) for items you advertised
      • Click-thrus to site: specifying how many Used-Line visitors went on to visit your company website
      • Click – view phone: showing how many visitors clicked the Click to view phone number button in your ads. The Click to view phone number button is shown under About the Seller in your listings, and your phone number is only revealed when the visitor clicks this button.
      • Views – product pages: showing how many potential buyers saw your listings

    5. To view specific statistics of individual ads, click My Ads. Here you will find a viewer-friendly table listing all your ads, clearly presenting every ad's performance since it was first listed, in 4 separate columns:
      • Views: The number of potential buyers who have seen the ad
      • Site: The number of Used-Line surfers who have clicked your company website link in the listing
      • RFQ: The number of RFQs that have been sent for the item described in the ad
      • Phone: The number of Used-Line visitors who have clicked the Click to view phone number button in the ad

    Note: Whenever you change or update an ad, the Used-Line listing is reset, and its statistics are reset with it. This means that only the statistics for the ad's most recent version will be shown.

  • Let our Customers Get to Know You
  • Two easy ways to for visitors to our site to get to know you are by becoming a Used-Line Member and by joining the Used-Line Dealer Directory.

    When you are a Used-Line Member, buyers find your contact info – company name, phone number, email address & website - in every ad you post, as well as in the Dealer Directory.

    The Used-Line Dealer Directory, currently listing over 900 equipment dealers worldwide, is a powerful marketing tool, drawing new customers who need exactly what you have to offer. By adding your company to our Directory you will gain far-reaching exposure, and a competitive edge that's hard to beat!

  • To become a Used-Line Member:

    If you have never listed equipment on Used-Line, visit the dealer Sell page and click Register NOW, or email sales1@used-line.com. You pay a monthly membership fee that is based on your equipment categories and the size of your inventory.

  • To join the Used-Line Dealer Directory:

    1. Click Dealer Directory in the left column of the Used-Line home page.
    2. Click Add your company to the Dealer Directory today.
    3. Fill out the company information form and choose the categories & specializations that your company works with.

  • Only a Few Items to Sell?
  • Not a problem. Used-Line.com invites private and occasional sellers to list up to 5 items of equipment at a low cost per item per month. Sellers with 6 – 50 items should contact our sales department to set up a custom plan with individually tailored pricing. Sellers with 51 – 150 items may also contact our sales department to inquire about a discount price as a Large-Volume Seller.   • You Don’t Have What Your Customers Are Looking For?
  • If your customers are urgently looking for test & measurement equipment that you don’t currently have in stock, you can post a Wanted List on Used-Line. The Used-Line Wanted System will automatically alert dealers who have matching items for sale, so that they can contact you as soon as possible.

    To post your own Wanted List:

    • Click on Post Wanted Ads at the top of any page on Used-Line.com and list the equipment you need in the provided form.
    • Or
    • Email your Wanted List to system1@used-line.com.

  • Get Notified as Soon as a Customer Wants an Item that is in Your Inventory
  • Dispose of your inventory quickly and efficiently by receiving alerts in real-time. You can choose which of your ads are to be included in your inventory. This inventory is called an Inventory Watch List. It consists of two components:

    • The Automatic Watch list: A watch list made up from your automatically uploaded ads, manually uploaded ads, or ads that have been defined by you as In-Stock.
    • The Managed Watch List: A watch list that you upload into the system, which you can edit at any time.

    When an item is added to the Used-Line Wanted List, your Inventory Watch List is scanned for a possible match and you are notified immediately if a match is found.

    To set up your Automatic Watch List:

    1. Log in to Used-Line.com
    2. At the bottom of any page on Used-Line.com, click Wanted-List System, which can be found under Make Money with Us.
    3. Click Preferences in the bar near the top of the page.
    4. Under Include in My Inventory Watch List, choose which types of listings you would like to include in your inventory. You can choose your manually added ads, your In-Stock ads, all of your automatically uploaded ads, or all of these options. Only Test & Measurement items will be added to your inventory list.
    5. Choose whether you would like to be sent the complete Wanted List for browsing.
    6. Choose whether you would like to be sent an email when a wanted item matches an item in your Inventory Watch List.
    7. Click Submit.

    To set up or edit your Managed Watch List:

    1. Log in to Used-Line.com
    2. At the bottom of any page on Used-Line.com, click Wanted-List System, which can be found under Make Money with Us.
    3. Click My Inventory Watch List in the bar near the top of the page. The Inventory Watch List is accessible exclusively to Used-Line Members.
    4. Click the Upload items to the Managed Watch List button, then follow the included instructions to manually add to or remove from your Inventory Watch List. Only Test & Measurement items can be included in your Managed Watch List.
    5. Tip: You can copy and paste directly from an Excel spreadsheet into your Managed Watch List.
    6. Click Submit.
